University of California, Berkeley

Jade Trinh

Jade Trinh graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration in December 2010 from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. She is interested in the growing connectivity of the world and how business and technology intersect to solve problems in ways never imagined before. She has worked on several projects involving technology, including consulting for SAP and developing a mobile application based venture with several other undergraduate students.

Apoorva Sachdev

Apoorva Sachdev is a third year undergraduate electrical engineering and computer science major. An international student from Singapore, Apoorva has always been interested in studying computer science and hopes to contribute to the growing technology movement around the world. An avid learner and quick study, Apoorva has learned how to develop for the Android mobile platform, and wishes to expand her skills into other areas of mobile development as well.

Taylor Griffin

Taylor Griffin earned his four year undergraduate Mechanical Engineering and Economics Double Major and is a fifth year senior at the University of California Berkeley. He is on course to receive degrees in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz this December, 2011. Although his recent studies have been in engineering, he is interested in business, technology, and entrepreneurship, and would like to find a career where he can be a communicator between engineers and business executives.

Karthik Lakshmanan

Karthik Lakshmanan is a third year undergraduate studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California Berkeley. Born in Australia, and having lived in India for 14 years before coming to Berkeley, Karthik is truly an international citizen. Karthik has always been passionate about anything related to science and technology. He’s fascinated by intelligent devices that go beyond the desk, and loves working at the level of interaction between man and machine.

Aaditya Sriram

Aaditya Sriram is a third Year undergraduate computer science major at the Amrita School of Engineering. Born in Tamil Nadu and raised in Karnataka, Aaditya feels blessed to be in Bangalore, the IT Capital of India. He was inspired and attracted by the world of computer science and broadened his spectrum of learning beyond textbooks. His passion for exploring computer science and programming beyond gaming grew when he received an opportunity to represent his school in a workshop on basic computing held by a Government Institution. Thereafter, Aaditya has been determined to make his mark on the world through innovation in computing and studies at The Amrita School of Engineering.

Tsinghua University

Sha Zhou

Sha Zhou. At the age of 18, I got award in ACM12 and earned admittance to the Tsinghua University (China) as an Automation major. At Tsinghua University, I actively participated in various extra-curriculum activities, learned advanced knowledge in my major and engaged in lab researches in computer science as well as communication fields. Besides, voluntary works and sports are also crucial parts in my college life. With my aspiration of becoming a technology innovator and entrepreneur, I have intentionally accumulated practical project experience. During my internship at Ericsson, I proposed a mobile application project named HelloWorld, which was highly evaluated by CTO of the China and Northeast Asia region. To tap HelloWorld project’s business potential, I joined the Tsinghua-Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Program and accumulated business knowledge through multi-cultural cooperation. I hope we could share our ideas with students from different countries.

Han Shuo

Han Shuo. I am now a senior student in Tsinghua University (China), majoring in the Department of Automation with an academic specialty in the area of computer vision and machine learning. I have a wide range of interests in sports, especially in basketball and swimming. I also have an extensive interest in those latest ideas in IT industry that could contribute to practical improvement of the people’s way of life. In terms of my career goal, I am always aiming to become an active technology entrepreneur in the future. And that is how I met the team of Megatrend in the Tsinghua-Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Program last year. Our team is so looking forward to the opportunity of sharing our idea with students from all around the world and I am sure that joining in this year’s University Mobile Challenge could be one of my memorable experiences.

Na Yinan

Na Yinan. I was born in Anshan, China. I grew up in Dalian, a very beautiful coastal city. At the age of 18, I got award in National Physics Olympiads and earned admittance to the Tsinghua University in Beijing as an Automation major. At Tsinghua University, I learned advanced knowledge in my major and actively participated in computer science research in the lab. Last term, I joined the Tsinghua-Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Program, and I am now working on a mobile entrepreneurship project. Apart from my study, I enjoy doing sports and travelling in spare time. I am good at playing tennis and the Go game. And I have travelled to the US and Japan during my holidays. These experiences help me to better see the fascinating world.

Florida State University

Justin Danielson

Justin Danielson is a triplet and among the first in his family who attended a major university. He is receiving my BS in Computer Science at the end of the semester. He is conducting research under Dr. Tyson and co-wrote a research paper with Frank Sposaro. His areas of interest in Computer Science include mobile technology and database systems.

Ciaran Hannigan

Ciaran Hannigan has been at Florida State University since 2005, getting his BS in Computer Science in 2010. He took a class called Mobile Programming in Spring 2009. Ciaran’s work in the class led to him to an offer to join Dr. Tyson’s research group. He has been a part of developing applications that aid the elderly. His area of interest at the moment is mobile application development.

Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich

Mazenod Jaccomuthu

Mazenod Jaccomuthu currently works on his master project in the MIS (management information system) department at ETH Zurich. He will be graduated in March 2011 in Management, Technology and Economics at ETH Zurich. He also did his Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering with focus in biomedical technology at ETH Zurich. His main focuses on his studies have been strategic management and information management. He is interested in mobile commerce and eMarketing.

Eugene Filimon

Eugene Filimon studies management of technology at ETH Zurich. In spring 2011 he will be completing his Master in Management, Technology and Economics. He also has degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. He demonstrates continued interest in mobile commerce.

Gabriel Hubert French

Gabriel Hubert French, 26, graduated from Stanford University in 2009 (MSc in Management Science and Engineering) and from Ecole Centrale Paris in France in 2007. He was involved in several entrepreneurial classes while at Stanford and was more directly involved in writing the business plan of a clinical trials startup.

Stanislas Polu

Stanislas Polu 26, graduated from Stanford University in 2009 (MSc in Computer Science) and from Ecole Polytechnique in 2007. Stanislas’s focused on Systems theory while at Stanford. Stanlislas has already been involved in several entrepreneurial projects. He built a free online data storage solution in 2004, and more recently developed a collaborative note-taking platform for students to share information live in class.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

Ashish Shubham

Ashish Shubham, Undergraduate, 5th year Dual Degree, is a final year Integrated M.tech student in the department of Computer Science and Engineerig at IIT Kharagpur. He is doing his Master’s thesis under the guidance of Prof. Jayanta Mukhopadhyay on Mobile phone based Medical Tele-consultation. In the past he has been a research intern at Microsoft Research Redmond, USA. Ashish has worked on various disciplines of Computer Science during his undergraduate and postgraduate studies viz. Real-time systems, Networks, High Performance computing etc. After completing his studies he is all set to join Nokia R&D at Bangalore.

Ritesh Yashwant Singh

Ritesh Yashwant Singh, Undergraduate, 2nd Year Dual Degree, is a sophomore student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. He is deeply interested in mobile applications because of their versatility and scope of penetration. He is conducting research in Genetic Algorithms and wants to use make them highly efficient so that they can be used in Mobile Applications too. He believes this would be a great opportunity because genetic algorithms have a huge amount of data as their backbone which would be very easy to provide through distributed mobile systems because of their penetration.

Stanford University

Ivan Lee

Ivan Lee (CEO, co-founder) is a Computer Science B.S and M.S candidate from Stanford University. Specializing in graphics and artificial intelligence, Ivan has placed as a finalist in an advanced graphics game competition, won multiple awards for his mobile application at Stanford’s 2009 Software Fair, and was recently awarded the prestigious Mayfield Fellowship – a 9-month work-study program in entrepreneurship. Career experience includes an internship at Microsoft as a software developer and one at Kno, Inc. as a software developer and product manager.

Juan Batiz-Benet

Juan Batiz-Benet (CTO, co-founder) is a Computer Science B.S. and M.S. at Stanford University. He specializes in systems and networking. Though he is most comfortable architecting large systems, he has recently been dabbling in the world of Artificial Intelligence. Juan’s past experience includes working at several startups and academic research projects. He loves building things and seeing projects flourish! He has been playing video games since he was a small child, and is excited to finally be making them! Juan hopes to meld the worlds of fantasy and reality, bringing games to the real world. Juan is obsessed with knowledge; he enjoys teaching and aspires to some-day make an impact in world-wide education.

Chris Meill

Chris Meill (Chief Game Developer, co-founder) is a computer science student from Stanford University. He grew up just north of San Francisco, and has been passionately playing and making games since his childhood. Over the course of his university studies in Artificial Intelligence and Graphics, he has undertaken many award-winning game projects, most notably the first place senior project for Stanford’s 2010 Software Fair.

Rico Roque

Rico Roque (Chief Creative Officer) recently graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Computer Science. While at Stanford, he won awards for Algorithmic Complexity and Aesthetic Quality for his java-based Star Wars parody program, CS Wars. After graduation, Rico decided to turn his senior project into his first marketable product. He is excited to see it grow and enjoys the creative challenges it offers.

Sayed Mohammad Ahmad
Sayed Mohammad Ahmad is Ph.D. Student at King Saud Universtiy. He received his Masters of Technology degree in Language Technology from Centre of Development of Advanced Computing & Mahatma Gandhi International University, India and was Gold Medalist. He is also Business Graduate. Before joining KSU he was Senior Manager (Software Development) with International Road Dynamics Inc.’s (Canada) South Asian wing, before that he served as Chief Technology Officer of Lareb Technologies. Apart from having Industrial experience he was also member of Universal Networking Digital Language Society and was associated with the development in various fields with the organizations of repute. Among his several achievements one was that he had developed World’s first Nastaliq Vector based technology for websites, database etc. This development was appreciated world over. Mr. Sayed’s areas of research & interest are embedded Systems, RFID, Biomedical & Biometrics, Image Processing, Speech Processing, Health care informatics, Natural Language processing and Information Security. He has vast experience of development on Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, Symbian, Blackberry, iPhone and Android.

AbdulAziz A BinShalhoub
AbdulAziz A BinShalhoub is undergraduate student, last year in the college of computer sciences and information in King saud university (KSU), Expected graduation in July 2011, a Bachelor in Information Systems. AbdulAziz started developing in objective-c ios SDK since 2010, he developed at least 10 programs for iPhone and iPad with deferent catalogers such as games, utilities, lifestyle, health & Fitness and education. AbdulAziz has a good experience in JAVA programing languageand he successfully done a java program for Archiving the incoming and outgoing for the Department of Admission and Registration Deanship at the Imam Muhammad bin Saud University in KSA. AbdulAziz has joined the innovation center in King Saud university, he is also doing graduate project, the objective of this project ito create a management system that organize an academic researches and manage it.

Faisal Sulaiman Alhazza
Faisal is an undergraduate Student at KSU, he has an experience in marketing field since he worked with his uncle in his company since 2007 – 2010 he was a Department Manager and there he learned how to design using Adobe Photoshop and adobe Premiere and then he resigned to join Microsoft Student Partnership program and he got accepted since September 2010 till now. Faisal is a member of the Innovation Center iPhone Developer team and he joined them since September 2010 . and he is a vice leader of Student inStore program for Microsoft. Faisal Al-Hazza is a member for Innovation Center iPhone Developer team and a member for Microsoft Student Partnership and a Vice Leader of Student inStore which is a Microsoft program for Student .

Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Wahban
Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Wahban studying at 8th semester in Faculty of Arts , History Department , King Suad University ,Saudi Arabia. Mohamed has more than ten (10) years of programing experience in Different programing languages VB 6, VB.NET, C#, PHP and other. Mohamed’s official career started sense over 3 years ,Mohamed’s worked in many places , Member of the development Committee of the web portal at Faculty of Law and Political Science, King Saud University,Creation and management of several website, including (www.ahmedwahban.com) , (www.msn2.me) ,(www.sudokuna.com),Developing stuff sites at Political Silence Department,and help them to win at the competition of departments web portals at the King Saud University. Asim S AlShutwi
Asim S AlShutwi under graduate student, Studying lasr year to get Degree of Bachelor in Computer Engineering, from College of computer and Information Sciences King Saud University, Riyadh, KSA ( www.ksu.edu.sa ). Asim S AlShutwi has has more than five years experience in programming with C++ language, designing embedded system and programming with ASSEMBLY language Asim S AlShutwi has worked as trainee in Engineering & Development department for three months in AEC ( www.aecl.com ) , developing system for one of AEC projects (ADDAD project ) using C#.Net. Asim S AlShutwi working on designing Intrusion Detection System ( IDS ) as graduation project, and developing iOS applications. Asim S AlShutwi has joined the Innovation Center in King Saud University.

Excellence school ASP (Alta Scuola Politecnica) from January 2009 to December 2010, joint venture between Polytechnic of Turin and Milan, in which just the best 2% of students take part, with innovation and managements courses and a multidisciplinary project, which was the base of the app development.

Roberta Sassone

Roberta Sassone was born on August 22, 1986 in Turin, the city where she live. She is Architecture student from the local Politecnico, She get her bachelor degree two yers ago and now she is working on her final project for her master degree. Besides, She attended the Alta Scuola Politecnica program with excellent evaluation carrying out a project about hospitality and technology in big events. In August 2010 She experienced a five-weeks workshop in Arcosanti, Paolo Soleri’s experimental town in Arizona, working in construction department.

Chelsea LeBlanc

Chelsea LeBlanc is a senior majoring in Computer Science at the University of Michigan through the college of Literature, Science, and the Arts. For the past year, she has been focusing on development of mobile applications with an emphasis on alternative user interfaces. At the university, she teaches a discussion section for EECS 281: Data Structures and Algorithms, and she is the captain of the Michigan women’s ultimate frisbee team. Kimberly Hunter

Kimberly Hunter is a senior in the undergraduate Computer Science program in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. She will also be receiving a minor in German Studies. She has interests in human computer interaction and software development. At the University, she works as a lighting production assistant for the College of Music, Theatre, and Dance. She will be working as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon after graduation.

Julien Braun

Julien Braun is a business school student with a major in marketing and innovation, and a passion for new technologies and startup-like ventures. He is an experienced ideator through several international innovation projects seeking disruptive solutions to challenges regarding business models, usability, design and technology. He has once designed a talking submarine, and a ping-pong table that glows in the dark.

Thibault Poisson

Thibault Poisson is last year student at ECP (French engineering school), and co-founder of TEDx Paris Universités. He studies Electrical engineering and follows the entrepreneurship courses of his school. He has worked for 6 months as project analyst for Neoen (Project developer in renewable energies) and was VP in charge of partnerships, communication and marketing at Raid Total Centrale Paris (student organised race, 200K€ budget, 300 contestants). He has created the application backend and now works on ShareMySpot business & marketing aspects. He dreams of creating a world changing solution.
