MobSocial is a mobile based Social Networking application employing exclusively the use of SMS. A huge amount of social networking, publicity and marketing happens through SMS. But it is highly unstructured. MobSocial leverages this as an opportunity to bring structure to this untouched sector of Social Networking. Using the application, user would be able to “Add Friend”, “Broadcast” a message to all friends (like Twitter), Target a Broadcast to a person of his/her choice, “Poke” a person of his/her choice, send a direct message to a person of his/her choice, option of encrypting all the data using RSA algorithm before sending and so on. A key differentiator for this application is that it buffers all the information on both the application side and the server side. This means that user would be able to engage in a lot of activity through one SMS. Even at the server side, all the information for the user would be buffered and will be sent to the user when it becomes too much and/or when the user requests for it through a button click on the application.(Android, non-LBS)
